Majorstuaklinikken started with 3D ultrasound as early as in 1998. We welcome all prospective parents/families for a peak before birth. We offer ultrasound at all stages of pregnancy. Our devices handle 2D, 3D and 4D. For medical measurements, the 2D function is always used. Our ultrasound appointments always include a medical examination of the fetus.

 

Early ultrasound can be taken between week 11 + 0 and 13 + 6. For an early ultrasound, it is best to come around week 12 (12 + 0), as it will be easier to see more of the fetus and maybe even the sex.

 

Ultrasound week 12 can be done between week 11 + 0 and 13 + 6. 

 

3D / 4D ultrasound is performed to provide a necessary assurance for the mother, children and family that the fetal development occurs normally. At the same time, the pictures can convey the "reality" for other children in the family,  realizing that they will soon have a new brother or sister. 3D / 4D ultrasound is recommended after week 24, as the fetus is more developed and gives better images.

 

FAQ

When is the best time to do 3D Ultrasound?

To get a good picture we recommend coming from week 24, but week 26, 27 and 28 usually is the best time. This also applies to facial images of the baby.

 

When can you see the gender?

Gender can be seen after week 15 + 0 using 2d ultrasound. But often it's best to wait until after week 20, as the fetus has had time to develop further. Development of genitalia often starts around week 12+0.

 

What are 3D and 4D Ultrasound?

3D ultrasound utilizes modern computer technology to transform 2D into 3D images. 4D ultrasound is a sequence of 3D images in which creates a movie clip.
